IP location is approximate
IP geolocation estimates the area associated with an address block. It is not GPS and does not identify a street address, subscriber or exact device. VPNs, mobile networks, proxies, corporate gateways and reassigned address blocks can produce an incorrect location.
What the RDAP fallback can tell you
If IPWhois.io is unavailable, the tool tries RDAP.org for public registration details such as the registered network and address range. RDAP is not a geolocation or retail ISP database, so this fallback cannot replace city or ISP results. Abuse contacts are not customer-support numbers.
Data source and rate limit
IPWhois.io supplies location and network fields; its free endpoint permits commercial use and allows up to 1,000 requests per day per domain, without an uptime guarantee. RDAP.org is queried only if IPWhois.io fails, and then supplies registration details rather than location or ISP data. Lookups start when a complete public IP is entered; results are cached briefly to reduce external requests.
