What a CSV cleaner can safely fix
Not every spreadsheet problem has a safe automatic fix. Removing a completely empty row is predictable. Inventing a missing price is not. A useful cleanup workflow makes that distinction visible.
Predictable changes
Tech Tycoon’s CSV Cleaner can remove completely empty data rows and trim surrounding whitespace when you select that option. It creates a separate download and a report listing affected source rows. The header row is retained.
Changes to review carefully
Whitespace may be meaningful in some fields. Removing duplicates depends on which columns define a record. A blank cell may be intentional. Dates such as 03/04/2026 are ambiguous without knowing the source format. This tool does not guess these meanings.
Malformed CSV files
Quoted fields can contain commas and line breaks. A missing closing quote makes the record boundary ambiguous. The parser reports an error rather than silently changing the data. Open the original file in a text editor or regenerate the export to repair malformed quotes.
Export safety
Spreadsheet applications can interpret certain CSV cell values as formulas. By default, Tech Tycoon prefixes formula-like text with an apostrophe during CSV export. This changes those exported values for safety. You may disable that protection only if you trust the source and understand the receiving application. XLSX downloads store values as text instead of formulas.
